Born in 1989, the French violist Adrien La Marca began playing music at the age of six at the Conservatoire d'Aix-en-Provence. In 2005, he won 1st prize at the national competition for young violists in Lille; the same year, he was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in Jean Sulem's class. In the summer of 2008, he was invited to take part in Seiji Ozawa's International Music Academy - Switzerland where he worked with Robert Mann, Pamela Franck, Nobuko Imaï, Sadao Harada and Seiji Ozawa. After receiving his Master's degree, Adrien perfected his skills and entered the 3rd higher cycle of the Paris Conservatory.

He also continues to study with Tatjana Masurenko (HMT-Leipzig).

 

During his musical development, Adrien was inspired and worked alongside artists such as Nobuko Imaï, Kim Kashkashian, Lawrence Power, Hatto Beyerle, Antoine Tamestit and Yuri Bashmet.

 

Since 2004, he has participated in many festivals such as the Merrick Festival in Miami, Jeunes Talents in Paris, La Folle Journée in Nantes, Musica in Strasbourg, La Grange de Meslay in Tours, festivals in Cordes-sur-Ciel, Deauville, Saint Cosme, Bad Kissingen, Ravinia, Verbier and Kuhmo (Finland). He plays alongside artists such as Alina Ibragimova, Franck Braley, Andreas Brantelid, Michel Portal and the Ebène quartet.

 

In March 2010, Adrien was selected by Gidon Kremer to participate in the "Chamber music connects the world" program and plays chamber music with Andras Schiff, Yuri Bashmet, Frans Helmerson and Gidon Kremer.

 

Winner of the "Generation Spedidam" programme, Adrien is also a winner of the 16th Johannes Brahms International Competition in Austria.

He won the 10th International Lionel Tertis Competition in March 2010, where he received three special prizes for his performances of the Brahms Sonata and the imposed contemporary work. In June 2011, Adrien became the winner of the 13th William Primrose International Competition, where he received the special prize for the most outstanding personality and a prize for his performance of Walton's concerto.

 

In November 2010, Adrien won the "Avants-Scènes" competition in Paris. He performs in recital at the Auditorium of the Musée d'Orsay, at the Grand Salon des Invalides, at the National Portrait Gallery in London and at the Cité de la Musique in William Walton's concerto.

 

Adrien is also a winner of the "L'Or du Rhin" foundation and the Banque Populaire corporate foundation.

Since 2008, he has been artist in residence at the Singer-Polignac Foundation.

 

He made his debut with the Leipzig Radio Orchestra (MDR SimphonieOrchester) last April in Walton's concerto.

 

Recently, Adrien won the audition of the Zilber/Rampal Foundation and was entrusted with a magnificent viola by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini.

 

Next January, Adrien will be Renaud Capuçon's guest at Schloss Elmau where he will play both Brahms sonatas with Nicholas Angelich. In February, he will play at the Victoires de la Musique ceremony alongside David Kadouch, Edgar Moreau and Renaud Capuçon. In 2013, he will also be at the festivals of Aix-en-Provence, Saint-Roch, Deauville, soloists at Les Serres d'Auteuil, Rencontres musicales en Artois, Radio France in Montpellier, or Ravinia alongside artists such as James Ehnes, Franck Braley, Renaud Capuçon, Adam Laloum and the Ebène quartet.
