First Prize in the André Navarra and "In Memoriam Rostropovitch" international competitions, Yan Levionnois also won two special prizes in the last Rostropovitch competition, including that of "most remarkable personality", and was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique2011, in the category "instrumental soloist revelation". He is also a winner of the Banque Populaire and Safran corporate foundations, and a classic revelation of the Adami 2013. He has performed as a soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, under the direction of Daniele Gatti, Dimitry Sitkovetsky, Jacek Kaspszyk, Jacques Mercier, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Heinrich Schiff, Arie Van Beek...

 

His first album, "Cello Solo", released in 2013 by Fondamenta, won the ffff of Télérama. His discography also includes a live recording in Lugano of Rachmaninoff's second Elegiac Trio with Renaud Capuçon and Denis Kozhukhin, published by EMI, as well as "Pierrots Lunaires", a CD of duets for violin and cello with violinist Mélanie Clapiès, released in 2014 by Fondamenta.

 

His chamber music partners include Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Augustin Dumay, David Grimal, Gérard Caussé, Antoine Tamestit, Nicholas Angelich, Frank Braley, Brigitte Engerer, David Guerrier, Emmanuel Pahud, Richard Galliano, the Ebène quartet. A defender of the music of his time, he has worked with composers such as KryštofMařatka, Jonathan Harvey, Martin Bresnick and Eric Tanguy.

 

Yan Levionnois began playing the cello with his father, then studied with Marc Coppey, Philippe Muller, Truls Mørk and Timothy Eddy. He was also advised by Gary Hoffman, Heinrich Schiff, Natalia Gutman, Frans Helmerson, Steven Isserlis and Natalia Shakhovskaïa.
